Johnson Holiday Day 22

16th January

Well this morning we packed everything up yet again and departed Treasure Island Caravan Park to move about 40 minutes away to Sea World Resort. This was where I managed to get last minute accommodation because of my huge stuff up with the dates. But it all worked out really well because we had also decided to go to Sea World for the day instead of Movie World because there was so much more for the girls to see that wasn’t just rides.

We managed to check our gear into the resort just after 10am but our room wasn’t ready yet. We unloaded the car and put it on a trolley and left it with the Concierge who was going to plug our fridge in for us too. Then we parked the car and caught the monorail into Sea World.

The day was pretty full on, the first port of call was to get a pusher for the day – wasn’t so much for Zoe as to carry all our gear in it. Then we had a look at the aquariums and the dugongs. The next stop was the donut shop for morning tea (or breakfast for Gemma). Then we moved on. The first show we went to was the seals. That was a new show since we had been there before and the girls sat and watched it in awe. We headed straight for lunch after that and just got there before the line ups! After lunch we moved on to see the Polar Bears. And boy were we having a run of luck…a few minutes after we got there one of them decided it was play time and the girls were very lucky to get a great look at him playing in the water from the underwater observatory.

After the Polar bears we headed over to line up for a ride on the SeaWorld Eye. Apparently the biggest Ferris wheel in the southern hemisphere. We lined up for quite a while (in the rain at this stage) to have a go. Once we were on the rain had started to ease, and we had a slight tanty from Zoe because we wouldn’t let her stand up and then Ayla cracked the sads because she was scared if someone didn’t have their arm around her.

The day was moving on and the next thing to get to was the Sesame Street Show and that was on at 1.45pm. We got there at about 1.30pm and already the seats were near full. But we got a good view and the kids sat in Awe once again. It was certainly a treat for them. After the show we headed round the Sesame street beach and the kids had a go at the rides and once I changed them into their bathers they started playing the water area there as well.

The dolphin show was on at 3pm – so once again we had to make a move in order to get some seats. The shows are very popular and because we didn’t get there until 15 minutes before the show it was nearly packed out. But we got seats and settled down for the performance. Again the girls sat speechless and poor Ayla was just overwhelmed by it all.

Straight after the show it was time to get the skates on to head back to Sesame street beach for the kids to have their photo taken with the characters. We were hoping to get photo with Elmo but we had to settle for Grover and Cookie Monster. Ayla and Gemma were happy with that – but poor Zoe wasn’t having a bar of them at all – it was the Santa scenario all over again!

After the photos we decided to catch the monorail back to the resort – we were ready for a rest and the girls were getting tired and needed a rest too. The photos weren’t going to be ready until 4.30pm and I wasn’t waiting around that long.

We all got on the monorail and headed back to collect our keys and find our room. Turned the cartoons on for the girls and left them with John while Gemma and I took the pram back and picked up the pics – we had to make it snappy so that we could get the last monorail back to the resort at 5pm.

Once we got back we decided to go for a swim before organizing tea – the kid’s water playground was only open until 6pm, so they would have missed out if we left it until later. We spent nearly an hour at the pool and Ayla had a ball on the water playground – Zoe spent most of her time the in shallows of the pool and with Gemma – but there was no stopping Ayla! She has a new found confidence of jumping into the water.

Sleeping arrangements were peculiar tonight – John shared one queen-size bed with Ayla and I shared the other one with Gemma. Zoe started off on a mattress on the floor – but soon ended up with Gemma and I. Wasn’t a too bad a night sleep – apart from the fact that Gemma kept talking in her sleep and scaring the crap out of me!
